Ingredients

  • pounds potatoes cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Method

  1. In a large bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Transfer the potatoes to the air fryer basket in as even a layer as possible.
  3. Air fry at 380°F (195°C) for 10 minutes, then flip and cook for another 10 minutes, until golden and fork-tender.
  4. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Preheating the air fryer for 5 minutes isn't required, but it will give you a slightly crispier result if you have the time.
  • If using a starchy potato variety, soak the cut pieces in cold water for 10 to 15 minutes first to remove excess starch, then pat completely dry before seasoning — otherwise they'll steam instead of roast.
  • Flip with tongs rather than shaking the basket, since shaking can break the potatoes apart and won't flip every piece evenly.
  • Great served as a side or appetizer with fresh herbs and a dip like ranch, lime crema, or guacamole.
